Pulp-less Fiction: Digital Downloads

This blog is about new paperless reading materials like downloadable audio books, ebooks, and online magazines, made available to you through the Appleton Public Library. I plan to provide helpful tips on using these new products, along with reviews of audio books, music on cd, and movies on DVD and Blu-ray. There may even be an occasional post on genealogy.  The library is changing as rapidly as your access to media and the Internet. We want to keep on top of the trends and bring you information and entertainment in a way that fits your life today.   -Diana

Good news—all 100 of our digital magazine titles are now available on Zinio!

For those who have not yet tried Zinio, it is a subscription service provided by the Appleton Public Library that allows you to download digital magazines to read on your computer, compatible phone or device.  You will need a valid InfoSoup library card with a PIN/Password set up in order to access this service.

Go to the elibrary at www.apl.org, then choose Zinio from the dropdown menu.  Create an account using your library card number and log in to select a magazine subscription.  The most recent issue will be downloaded immediately.  Subsequent issues will automatically become available to you.  You will receive an email telling you when they are available.

There are Zinio apps available for many devices, which you can use to read your digital magazines.  You may also be able to install a free software program called Zinio Reader to read your magazines on your desk computer or laptop.

Step-by-step instructions from Zinio are available at http://www.keepandshare.com/doc/3975638/zinio-patron-user-guide?da=y.

Enjoy reading magazines without the paper or the cost.
