OneClickdigital audio books from Recorded Books are always available

Pulp-less Fiction: Digital Downloads

This blog is about new paperless reading materials like downloadable audio books, ebooks, and online magazines, made available to you through the Appleton Public Library. I plan to provide helpful tips on using these new products, along with reviews of audio books, music on cd, and movies on DVD and Blu-ray.  The library is changing as rapidly as your access to media and the Internet. We want to keep on top of the trends and bring you information and entertainment in a way that fits your life today.   -Beth

For those with an interest in digital audio books, the Appleton Public Library has added a second way for you to download digital audio books to your computer or laptop, as well as many ereaders, smart phones and tablets.

OneClickdigital provides all but the most recent books by popular authors who work only with Recorded Books, and are not available through OverDrive.  This is a great way to catch up on series you haven't listened to before.  Another advantage of these titles is that they are multiple access, which means many people can check out the same title at a time.

You will need to create an account for this service, log in with your library card, and download their free OneClick Media Manager.  If you don't yet have a library card, stop by and apply at any of our service desks.  Be sure to bring photo id and a current bill or other document that shows your current address, if your id doesn't have the correct address

If you haven't yet tried it, OverDrive--Wisconsin Digital Library was our first downloadable audio source.  Titles include current best sellers as well as older titles, and a variety of topics and genres.  They are mostly single access, which means only one person at a time can check out each copy of a title.  Digital audio books can be downloaded by going to and clicking on the logo.  Links to any necessary free software are provided.

Enjoy great listening for free!
