What are the rules for using public computers in the library? | PDF - foldable brochure
Summary
- Login durations, as well as the number of times you are allowed to log on each day varies by computer type and location. Please see the PDF (above) for the complete list of rules.
- Staff will attempt to assist with software or hardware problems but are not experts on all types of software or hardware.
Patrons are ultimately responsible for their own use of the computers and can use the print and online tutorials plus books from the collection to learn how to use the computers.
- Patrons activate the computers using their own Appleton or OWLSnet library cards or an Appleton non-borrowers library card. Patrons may not use cards belonging to others.
- Patrons with fines or bills over $5 or other delinquencies will not be allowed access. To resolve a delinquency, or for further information, please contact the Circulation or Reference desks.
- Area residents without library cards will be referred to the Circulation desk to apply for a card.
- Short-term visitors from outside the area may be given a guest card, good for one day use. Guest cards are issued at the Reference Desk, and require a valid ID.
- Patrons who have cards but did not bring them may be eligible for a one-time use exception by presenting valid ID.
- Staff will monitor use of the computers to see that patrons are following the Library’s Internet policy and obeying the rules posted in the area.
