Adult Internet Programs

This Fall the Appleton Library will offer three adult Internet programs that will be repeated each month. A fourth class, Using the Appleton Public Library Home Page, will be offered once in December. All programs will be held in the Library's lower level meeting room and are free and open to the public. No reservations are required. For more information, contact the Reference Department at 832-6173.

Introduction to the Internet

This class is for the person who knows nothing about the Internet or is just getting started. Learn about what the Internet is, how to get connected, how to send email, and how to begin surfing on the World Wide Web.

This class will be offered three times:

Tue. September 12 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.
Tue. October 3 2-4 p.m.
Mon . November 6 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.
Beginner's guide to the World Wide Web
This session will explore the basics of navigating the World Wide Web showing how to locate information on a variety of topics. The program will demonstrate some of the most popular and useful web sites and show you how to find them. This session is for people thinking about going online, or just getting started and looking to learn more.

This class will be offered three times:

Tue. September 19 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.
Tue. October 10 2-4 p.m.
Mon . November 13 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.
Searching the World Wide Web
Frustrated trying to find the information you want to the Web? If so, this is the program for you. We will explore how to find and use the best subject guides on the Web and present numerous tips for getting the most out of Internet search engines. Basic experience using the World Wide Web will be helpful before attending this class.

This class will be offered three times:

Tue. September 26 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.
Tue. October 17 2-4 p.m.
Mon . November 20 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.
Using the Appleton Public Library Home Page
This program will showcase the many resources available from the Library's Web Site. Learn about using the library catalog from home, locating newspaper and magazine articles, finding out about library and community events, using the Library's Internet guides, and much more.

This class will be offered once:
