Fine Print - Summer 2000  Volume XI, Number 2

Habla Espanol?
A grant from the Appleton Library Foundation is helping to kick off a new collection of materials in Spanish. The Fox Valley's Spanish language-speaking audience has grown quite rapidly in the last few years. Last year, staff added several Spanish language periodicals, both popular and educational that have proved very popular. With the funding from the Appleton Library Foundation, we were able to build a rather large initial collection. Readers will find both current popular fiction and literary standards, and a wide variety of non-fiction topics.

Staff have printed bibliographies of these new materials. The bibliographies are published in both English and Spanish. The Spanish language books and media are inter-shelved with other books and media by call number; but they sport a new colorful sticker on their spines in addition to the call number label. The new stickers are red and yellow striped with the word Espanol (Spanish) in the center of the sticker.

We hope both native Spanish speakers and Spanish language students will find that these materials fill a gap in our collection. We are very excited to expand library service to new audiences.
