Hmong in America: Refugees from a Secret War
Chippewa Valley Museum, Eau Claire, WI

Hmong families came to the United States because they no longer live in their homeland, Laos.  From 1961-1975, they fought as American allies in a war that was, and remains today, virtually unknown to Americans.  The U.S. withdrawal from Southeast Asia left hundreds of thousands in peril and resulted in a mass exodus to refugee camps in Thailand and eventual settlement in America where they began rebuilding their lives as Hmong Americans.

FIRST Robotics Competition
Plexus Technology Group, Neenah, WI
This exhibit represents a collaborative effort between Plexus Technology Group and Appleton Area School District. The photography of Guy Johnson and a few of the students are highlighted. The photos portray the design and fabrication of a robot built by the students.

August 1- September 14  Ethnic Architecture of Eastern Wisconsin
Cedarburg Cultural Center, Cedarburg, WI

This exhibit documents the way in which European ethnic communities shaped Wisconsin's built environment.  Black and white photographs examine the German half-timbered houses, Norwegian log cabins, Luxembourg stone barns, Polish stovewood outbuildings and many other structures.  These various examples clearly illustrate the different materials, methods, and styles of construction employed by early Wisconsin residents to provide homes for their families, shelter for their livestock, and places to do business.
