Tic Tac Title
Tic Tac Title is the Appleton Public Library's Summer
Reading Program for young adults entering grades 7-12. The program
will kick off June 11th at a party at 3:00pm that will feature the
improvisational comedy of the group ComedyCity.
This year's summer library program has a tic-tac-toe
format. Participants are given game cards with squares representing
different types of books. Among the categories are young adult fiction,
romance, western, mystery, science fiction/fantasy, biography, poetry,
short stories, humor and nonfiction. Participants choose which row
(across, down, diagonal) has the type of books they want to read
and review. The completed review cards are submitted at the Information
Desk. After completing a row, participants are given a small incentive
prize and one entry into the large prize drawing of their choice.
Participants continue with more game cards for the duration of the
program, reading as many books as they wish.
This is the second summer for the teen summer library program.
Last summer over 200 teens participated. The flexibility of the
program allows teens to set their own pace. All incentives were
purchased with grants from the Appleton Library Foundation and Friends
of the Appleton Library. This year's prizes include a DVD player,
two-way radios, a day spa package, laser tag passes, a lava lamp
and Conkey's and Exclusive Company gift certificates. Teens find
out who wins the big prizes at a final pizza party on August 10th.
