A Technology Grant
A technology grant from the Appleton Library Foundation
has made it possible for the Library to purchase 8 wireless laptops.
The laptops are being used for staff training on new software and
for computer skill development. In addition, the portability of
the computers makes them ideal for offering small group instruction.
For example, last fall and again this spring a group of students
in a new entrepreneur program offered by the City of Appleton's
Department of Economic Development and FVTC used the laptops as
part of a class taught by library staff on the small business resources
available at the Library and online.
Plans are also underway for offering hands-on Internet instruction
beginning with this summer's series of classes.
The addition of this fleet of mobile computers has expanded the
type and quality of instruction that can be offered at the Library.
