Fine Print -Spring 2002  Volume XIII Number 1
Art : 21 Art in the Twenty-First Century video/discussion series will be offered at Appleton Public Library during the month of April. This series focuses on 21 contemporary visual artists through conversations that explore their lives, work, and sources of inspiration. Works incorporate the following media: installations, music, storytelling, projected imagery, performance art, film making, conceptual art, video art, photography, sculpture, and painting. Although many of the works show evidence of influences from an earlier time, they are decidedly "21st century" in their scope. Each segment features a different theme: Place, Spirituality, Identity and Consumption. The artists featured range in age from their early 30s to their early 90s. Art 21 is not only an introduction to contemporary art; it is a vehicle for critical thinking and creative exploration. Participants should bring a photograph to the first session that depicts themselves as children. Join us for this provocative series! Elizabeth Eisen, Community Services Librarian, will lead discussion. Registration requested at 832-1695.
