Mary Edwards, local clinical therapist, will lead a three-part book discussion series on The Spiritual Self this spring at the library. Participants will explore the role of spirituality in a woman's life, the concept of goddess, and the place of women in religion over the ages.

The schedule will be:

March 13
Descent to the Goddess: A Way of Initiation for Women
By Sylvia Brinton Perera
A highly original and provocative book about women's freedom
and the need for an inner female authority in a masculine-oriented
society

April 10
When God Was a Woman
By Merlin Stone
The landmark exploration of the ancient worship of the Great
Goddess and the eventual suppression of women's rites

May 8
A God Who Looks Like Me: Discovering A Woman-Affirming
Spirituality

By Patricia Lynn Reilly
Personal memories of women of all ages interwoven with the
collective story of women in the Bible

The programs are on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-7:30pm in the library's lower level meeting room. They are free and open to the general public. Call 832-1695 to register.
