Cover Story
Cover Story is the Appleton Public Library's Summer Library Program
for young adults entering grades 7-12. To encourage teens to read
over the summer, participants in the program are given review cards
asking questions about each book read. The completed cards are submitted
at the Library’s Information Desk. Teens then draw tickets
for each submitted review to determine the level for a small incentive
prize. Next, they enter their names for a chance at the large prizes,
which will be presented at a final pizza party August 8th. A special
drawing will be held weekly for the best reviews.
Cover Story allows each teen to set his or her own pace, and to
read books they have chosen themselves. This is the third year for
the Library’s Summer Reading Program for young adults. Last
year more than 2400 book reviews were submitted! This year's prizes
include DVD players, and gift certificates for The Exclusive Company,
Funset Boulevard, The Fox River Mall and ihop. All prizes were selected
by the Appleton Public Library’s Teen Advisory Board, and
purchased with donations from the Appleton Library Foundation and
Friends of the Appleton Library.
The program will kick off June 9th at a party featuring the improvisational
comedy group ComedyCity. The party will be from 3:00 to 4:00pm.
