APL’s Teen
Voices:
Original writing and artwork by Fox
Valley teens
APL’s Teen Voices started in the spring of 2001 as a way
to showcase the writing talents of local teenagers. The online publication
has evolved from originally accepting only short fiction, essays
and poetry to its current form that includes poetry, essays, short
fiction, music reviews, book reviews and artwork by local teens.
In addition, the latest edition features several illustrated short
stories.
Since the first publication we have had a new edition to celebrate
every Teen Read Week each October and National Library Week each
April. Entries are reviewed by the Young Adult Librarian and selected
works are put on the website. All teens that submit work to APL’s
Teen Voices receive a certificate of participation. Since the start
of the program over 240 teens have participated.
