Comic Book compilations and Graphic Novels at APL

Graphic novels and comic books are one of the hottest trends in the book world today. Graphic novels look like comic books but instead of telling a story in a series of multiple issues, they are complete novels. Many things are fueling this trend including the high quality of today's graphic novel writers and the fact that many book series have companion television series. In addition, many recent successful motion pictures have been adapted from graphic novels and comic books including The Road to Perdition, Ghost World, Daredevil, Spider-man and The Hulk.

The Appleton Public Library has acquired a broad collection of graphic novels and comic book compilations through a grant from the Appleton Library Foundation. Because this trend is especially popular with teens, the Young Adult Collection has many that are popular for male and female readers; however, the adult fiction and non-fiction collection has graphic novels and comic books as well. It doesn't matter what your interest is - superhero stories, fantasy, science fiction, Japanese manga, or historical fiction - there's something for you!

Just a few of our titles and series include:

Ranma ½
Oh My Goddess!
Meridian
DragonBall Z
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
Bone
Elfquest
DC Archive Editions
Ceres Celestial Legend
Mars
Sandman
