Frank P. Young Scholarship Winners
Announced
The Scholarship Committee of the Appleton Public Library Board
of Trustees awarded scholarships of $600 each to Amanda Moss and
Florian Kardoskee from the Frank P. Young Scholarship Fund in
March. Amanda is a student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison
School of Library and Information Studies and Florian will begin
his studies there this fall.
Amanda is a native of Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin.
She has a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from the College
of Saint Benedict in St. Joseph, Minnesota. She is hoping to work
in Youth/Children’s Services in a public or school library.
Florian lives in Appleton. He graduated
in January, 2004 from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with
a degree in Journalism. He is interested in Reference work.
The Frank P. Young Scholarship Fund was
established in 1969 to help students obtain a graduate degree
in Library Science and to further library service in the Appleton
community. The chair of the Scholarship Committee is Ronald Dunlap.
Other members of the committee include Peter Ducklow and Will
Bloedow.
