Fine Print -Summer 2005  Volume XVI Number 2

YA Summer Fun!

Cover Story, the Teen Summer Library Program, returns again this year under the direction of Paula Wright, the new Young Adult Librarian. Students entering the program submit book reviews for each book they read, earning a variety of fun, and in some cases, unusual prizes (prizes suggested by the Teen Library Council). The Grand Prizes (an ipod Shuffle, a Barnes and Noble Gift Card, a portable DVD Player, and a Gift Certificate to the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center) will have students reading and reviewing like crazy this summer! Registration for Cover Story begins June 6th, with a kick-off party featuring the very entertaining improv group Comedy City! Students can also register at the Information Desk (as well as turn in reviews and pick out the fun and unusual prizes). The program ends August 5th with a Pizza Party and the Grand Prize drawings.

Also this summer will see the continuation of the popular Java Jive concert series, on a new day and time! The Java Jive concert series features young adult musical artists performing live in the Library’s Atrium. This summer the concert series will be held twice monthly on Mondays 1:00-2:00 pm. Please join us for a late lunch, or relaxing afternoon break! Performers will be announced throughout the summer, but look for our first concert on June 13th!

Last (but not least), the Anime Film series for young adults will also continue this summer on selected Fridays from 2:00-4:00 pm. While the Anime titles are still to be decided, all will be age appropriate for young adults. Admission is free and refreshments will be provided for each series! Join us for the first Anime Film of the summer on June 17th!

All young adult programs are funded by grants from the Appleton Library Foundation and the Friends of the Appleton Library. For more information on Young Adult Programming please visit our website http://teen.apl.org/.
