Second annual
" i love my library fundraising dinner"
helps library provide "extra edge of excellence"

On Sunday, February 12, 2006, patrons were invited to attend one of “tastiest” events of the season. To help observe National Library Lovers Month, (February), the Appleton Library Foundation provided an excellent opportunity for library lovers to celebrate, by sponsoring the second annual I Love My Library Fundraising Dinner at Riverview Country Club in Appleton. Cocktails, live musical entertainment by library staff members Karen Probst, piano, and Colleen Rortvedt, vocalist, as well as bidding on auction items began at 5:00 pm, followed by a lovely dinner.

“What a wonderful opportunity to enjoy an elegant evening while demonstrating your financial support for the wonderful services, programs and collections the Appleton Public Library provides our community,” stated Nancy Johnshoy, President of the Appleton Library Foundation, and chairperson for this event.

Funds generated by this event help support special events, programs and workshops, as well as library materials, technology, equipment, author appearances and readings not supported by the city’s budget.

Corporations expressed their support for the library and community by sponsoring tables of eight for $1,000. (Individual seats were also purchased at $100.) This year’s corporate tables were sponsored by: JPMorgan Chase, Wealth Management, LLC, Johnson Bank, and M&I Bank.

Donors for the silent auction included: AAA Insurance; Ace Hardware; American Music Hub; Appleton Bike & Fitness; Appleton Library Foundation; Avenue Jewelers; Kathy Beck; Carlson Wagonlit Travel/Wilbourne’s Travel Service; Alden Carter, author; Conkey’s Bookstore; Copper Rock; Coventry Glassworks & Gallery; Eagle Graphics, LLC; Flanagan’s Stop & Shop; The Four Seasons Resort; Great American Soup Company; Grounds Keeper; Haberdasher, Ltd.; Andrew Horan, photographer; Lou Hull; Nancy Johnshoy; Joseph’s Shoes; Michael Kenney; Rev. John McFadden; Kendall McMinimy, photographer; Memorial Florists & Greenhouses; Michele Missner; Outagamie Museum; Paper Creations; Pursenality; Radisson Paper Valley Hotel; Salon CTI; Phil Sealy, artist; Tom Sutter, photographer; Larry Watson, author; WE Energies; Wild Bird & Backyard; and, Wilmar Chocolates.

Special thanks should also extended to the many people and organizations that made the evening a success, including Will and Ruth Bloedow, Virchow Krause, WE Energies, Friends of the Appleton Library President Lou Hull, Steve Johnshoy, Barb Kelly, Michael Kenney, Kay Shearier, Maureen Ward and Tony Wieczorek.

This evening celebrated the many fine services the Appleton Public Library provides. “Attendees’ participation in this event supports the library’s future, by giving it an extra edge of excellence,” concluded Appleton Public Library Director Terry Dawson. “We are genuinely appreciative of the Foundation’s sponsorship of the I Love My Library event as it helps us with the means to supply materials and services we might otherwise be unable to provide through our public funding.”

Members of this year’s “I Love My Library” Fundraising Dinner Committee included: Nancy Johnshoy, Dennis Hultgren, Tom Williams, Terry Bergman, Ralph O. Kennedy II, Pastor Will Bloedow, Lou Hull, Eloise Loebach, and Terry Dawson.
