The Power of Myth
The Power of Myth, a popular PBS series featuring Joseph
Campbell, legendary teacher/storyteller and Bill Moyers, TV journalist, will be presented as a Video/Discussion Series this summer at Appleton Public Library. The series discusses the themes and roots of human myth which are seen as man's attempt to relate himself to the universe. The series will be held in the lower level meeting room from 1:00-3:00 pm, Wednesday afternoons. The schedule of videos is as follows:
- June 26 Part 1 The Hero's Adventure
- July 3 Part 2 The Message of the Myth
- July 10 Part 3 The First Storytellers
- July 17 Part 4 Sacrifice and Bliss
- July 24 Part 5 Love and the Goddess
- July 31 Part 6 Masks of Eternity
Participants will view an hour long video and engage in lively
discussion during the second half of the program. The discussion leader will be Elizabeth Eisen, Community Services. Admission is free. Pre-registration is requested by June 24 by calling 832-1695. Attendance at all sessions is not required. Reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities will be made upon request and if feasible.
