Assistant Library Director elected as WLA President

Barbara Kelly, Assistant Director of the Appleton Public Library, has been elected to the position of Vice-President/President-Elect of the Wisconsin Library Association for 1999. That means that Kelly will be President of the statewide professional organization during the year 2000.

Kelly spoke of Relevancy, Effectiveness, and Connections as her theme in her pre-election campaign. "Relevancy is critical to our continued existence (as an organization). Effectiveness, most particularly with regard to our State and Federal legislative initiatives, is another critical area we must continue to attend to. Connections are the key to success in both of these endeavors."

Also elected to Wisconsin Library Association positions were Cecilia Wiltzius, Community Services Supervisor, who was chosen to be Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect of the Readers Section and Secretary Pro Tem for the Wisconsin Genealogy and Local History Round Table. Library Director Terry Dawson was appointed to the WLA Library Development and Legislation Committee.
