ParnTech
Fine Print winter 1999
The Appleton Public Library has received a grant of $2,500 from the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) to serve as a demonstration site for their ParenTech program.

ParenTech is a regional initiative designed to help parents and educators better understand the role of technology in the lives of children. Made possible by a public/private partnership between the North Central Regional Educational Laboratory and Ameritech, ParenTech provides resources which focus on the impact technology has on education, careers, and society.

ALSC, a division of the American Library Association, received a grant from the Ameritech Foundation for public libraries in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin to create ParenTech learning stations for families without home computers.

The $2,500 grant can be used to promote the program by hosting public events involving families, buying materials for distribution at the hosted events, enhancing library collections, or purchasing equipment.
