Donations of Books, DVDs, Music & Audiobook CDs

The Appleton Public Library and the Friends of Appleton Public Library accept gifts of new or gently-used books, DVDs and music or books on compact disc.

Simply bring your donations to a service desk. We do not assign a value to the donated items, but you will receive a receipt indicating that we have received the materials. We do not return items that are given to us.

Decisions on whether and how donated items will be added to our collection are made by staff members on the same criteria applied to purchased materials.

Items that are not added to the collection become part of the Friends of Appleton Public Library semi-annual used book sales, which generate funds for library programs and special projects.

There are some items the Friends have trouble using. These include weekly news magazines and newspapers, Reader's Digest Condensed Books, National Geographic magazines, VHS videos, encyclopedias, science or technical textbooks and magazines more than five years old.
