Minutes and Bill Registers
President Bergman called
the meeting to order at 12:00. Schuessler moved and Ducklow
seconded approval of the March 12, 2003 minutes. Dawson made one correction to the minutes in the
sentence “Nagler expressed concern over the legality of the policy and
asked that the City Attorney review the policy.” The motion passed as corrected. Ducklow moved approval of the March, 2003
bill register, Schuessler seconded and the motion passed. Bergman asked Bloedow to sign the bill register
in de Young’s absence.
Personnel Committee Report
Schuessler reported that
the Personnel Committee met just prior to the Board Meeting to review the
Director’s goals. The Committee
suggested some wording changes but approved the goals. Schuessler moved to accept the goals with the
additions, Bloedow seconded and the motion passed.
Director’s Report
Dawson reported that after review of the Children’s Area Appropriate Use Policy
by the City Attorney’s Office, section 2d was reworded to clarify the
language. Bergen moved to accept the Policy, Bloedow seconded and
the motion passed. Dawson thanked Behrens for his work on the policy
language.
Bergman shared Mayor Hanna’s National Library Week
Proclamation for the week of April 6th through April 12th. Dawson listed all the activities planned for the week,
highlighting “Prime Time”, a program that works with parents and children
having reading difficulties.
The Wisconsin State Library Association is
promoting a “Resolution of Affirmation for Free Public Library Services.” Bergen moved to adopt the Resolution, Bloedow seconded,
and the motion passed.
Dawson outlined the 2004 budget process to the
Board. The Library budget should be
approved at the June 11th Board meeting in order to meet the City’s
June 13 deadline for budget submission.
This will require a Finance Committee meeting prior to the June Board
meeting. Final approval of the budget is
expected at the November 12th Council meeting.
