
Program Policy
adopted January 11, 1999
Rationale:
The Library sponsors programs to further its mission by serving groups.
Programs consistent with the library's purpose may include those intended
to educate and inform the public, to promote community discussion, or to
present cultural events or entertainment.
Policy:

Library programs will be generally be free and open to the public, except
as noted below.

The Library may co-sponsor programs with other organizations. Policy
restrictions on library programming shall apply to programs held on library
premises.

Staff plans library programs and makes them available to the community
as a whole, but some programs, such as tours, may be given to designated
groups on request.

There are several types of Library programs:
a. General programs and regularly offered classes are free and open
to the public.
b. Advance ticketed programs are special events with limited seating.
c. Ongoing program series or classes may restrict participation may
be limited in enrollment. Examples include story hour series, book
discussion groups, and similar groups.
d. Private programs for library meetings or library support groups
may include invitation-only attendance, an admission charge, or fund-raising,
with approval of the Director.
e. Public programs planned for library fund-raising may include an
admission charge, in exceptional cases and with approval of the Director.
f. The Library provides group tours or Library orientations on request.
Some aspects of these programs may be planned jointly with the requesting
group.
