Smoking Policy
adopted March 12, 2003
Purpose: Patrons of the library have the right to use materials and services
without being unduly disturbed or impeded by other users. While patrons and staff
have the right to a secure and congenial environment, smoking and second-hand
smoke pose a health risk and create an unpleasant environment for non-smokers
- Smoking
or chewing tobacco by the public is not permitted in the Library.
- Smoking is not permitted anywhere on Library property.
- Staff who observe persons in violation should see that they are informed
of the policy and ask them to comply. In case of non-compliance, staff
may summon the Police to cite violators for trespassing. Repeat or
flagrant offenders may forfeit library use privileges.
- adopted by Library Board of Trustees, March 12, 2003
