  1. Iditaread

    Registration is required.

    Check out our newest reading program, Iditaread - based on the annual Alaskan Race, the Iditarod. Children ages 3 through 6th grade are welcome to participate in 23 reading challenges from March 1 – 31 for an entry in a drawing for a stuffed husky! The first 200 to reach the midway point will receive a special prize as well. Simply print out your reading log and fill out the form below to get started!

  2. 3,2,1...Blast Off Read!

    Registration Details: 

    Registration begins on January 20, 2014 at 9:00am. Contact the Children's desk at (920) 832-6187 or fill out the form below to register.  You MUST be registered in order to earn any incentives.  Students must be in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd grade to participate.

    First, second, and third grade students are invited to blast off into the reading atmosphere with some of the best books the library has to offer! Students may read by themselves, read to someone else (including pets or stuffed animals), or listen to someone read to them.

    If you finish, you will be entered into a drawing for an Amazon.com gift card.  You must be registered in order to earn any prizes/incentives.

    • 1st grade:  24 books before May 9
    • 2nd grade: 12 books before May 9
    • 3rd grade:  6 books before May 9

    Of these books, at least ½ should be from the library’s booklists. While you may choose books from any of the three lists, you should be choosing books written at your reading level.

    Please be sure to include your full name and phone number on every review you submit. Reviews may be turned in one at a time, or all at once. Every review will be read by the children's librarian.

    The drawing will be held May 12, 2014.

  3. Great Children's Novel Challenge

    January 20-May 9, 2014
    Registration is required.
    Registration Details: 

    Registration begins on January 20, 2014 at 9:00am. Contact the Children's desk at (920) 832-6187 or click here to register.  You MUST be registered in order to earn any incentives.  Students must be in 4th, 5th, or 6th grade to participate.

    Pick up your reading list of classic/contemporary literature at the Children's Service Desk or print it from the link above. Review eight books in this 16 week window (January 20, 2014 - May 9, 2014). Four novels must be from the library's list. You may listen to audiobooks. If you finish, you will be entered into a drawing for an amazon.com gift card.  You must be registered in order to earn any prizes/incentives.

    If you have participated in the past you may participate again, but you must read and review different books.

    Reviews must answer the following three questions, and do not need to be on library supplied paper:

    • What was your favorite/least favorite part of this book?
    • What was the conflict in the book?
    • How was the conflict resolved?

    Reviews should be at least eight full length sentences long. Please be sure to include your full name and phone number on every review you submit. Reviews may be turned in one at a time, or all at once. Every review will be read by the children's librarian. All books reviewed must be novels, and must be at the participant's reading level.

    The drawing will be held May 12, 2014.

  4. 100 Picture Book Challenge

    When: 
    All Year
    Registration is required.
    Registration Details: 

    Register below, then print out a reading log. You cannot earn any prizes unless you are registered.

    Pick up your list of the 100 best picture books at the Children's Service Desk or click the link above to print it. Redeem your list at the Children's Service Desk and receive a prize and certificate.  We will check registration before handing out the prize and certification.

    Using the list, read through 100 picture books and check them off as you go. Reading includes being read to, reading independently or listening to an audiobook of the story.

    Under each title fill in your favorite part of the story - parents and caregivers can do this for you. There are bonus staff reads at the end that are not necessary to complete. When you finish the list redeem it at the Children's Service Desk. A completion certificate and small prize will be awarded.

  5. 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

    When: 
    All Year
    Registration is required.
    Registration Details: 

    Register below, then print out a reading log.  You cannot earn prizes unless you are registered.

     

    Pick up your sheets at the Children's Service Desk or print them from our webpage. Redeem each sheet of 100 books at the Children's Service Desk for a small prize. When you redeem the last sheet, for books 900-1,000, you'll receive another prize and a certificate for finishing. We will check registration before handing out the last prize and certificate.
